Day 8-Santa Monica, CA

Day 8: Santa Monica

Hey y’all, we are the Sleepies. At this point, we are too tired to write, so bear with us. Coming to you from Emma Gray Wheatley, Cullen Polk, Bryson Bentley, Zach Hoe, Grace Gentry, Sadie Burchfield, Cindy Peterson, Bailey Thornburg, Emily Bronish, Taylor Davenport, Lily Cabe, and Evan Tillis. This morning we woke up bright and early on the bus to the view of Santa Monica beach along with 3 Cali girls showing off their dance moves. Alicia ran what felt like 3 miles to find someone to let us in the parking lot after waiting for an hour. Finally, we were able to take our first look at the Pacific Ocean. Some of us stayed and enjoyed donuts and yogurt on the beach while others ventured into the city and had some much needed Starbucks coffee and McDonald’s. After breakfast, a handful of participants played games such as Eiffel ball and volleyball while others started their long day of shopping. A couple of the braver souls who decided to polar plunge into the Pacific Ocean were surprised with a drop off which resulted in many people face planting which was quite the comedic entertainment.

After several hours of free time and fun, it was time for our lunch and the afternoon competition we prepared for the day prior on the way to Vegas. We were challenged to see which group could make the best TWB parody song describing our trip so far. The dopey group took the win with a parody to escape or “the pina colada song”.

Many made their way to see the famous Santa Monica pier to enjoy food at the Bubba Gump shrimp company, roller coasters, and the other shops and attractions. Some enjoyed many homemade venders and their souvenirs along the peer. A couple groups made their way to the local shopping center and broke the bank (mom and dad please don’t check our bank accounts today). Those that stayed behind at the beach decided to face the powerful salty waves and an even more brutal sun which resulted in a lot of sun burns.

SLEEP CAM

After a fun beach day many tired campers loaded into the busses and vans to camp out in Anaheim. Most decided to take a much needed shower and nap before dinner to prepare to get to sleep early for our fun filled day tomorrow. Dinner consisted of Chicken Nuggets, with Mac & Cheese, with green beans and a sweet cookie for dessert. This meal reminded everyone of home, especially with the sweet tea! Everyone went to sleep at 9pm excited for our much anticipated magical day at Disneyland tomorrow.
