Day 21- St. Louis

Day 21: St. Louis

Grumpy’s back again! Our day started at the early hour of 5:30am to pack up tents and load up for the day. Luckily, the grumpys scared off the rain last night so we were able to stay dry. Once we loaded up on the bus and vans we went right back to sleep before our wake up call to shake your sillies out (courtesy of Dallas) to eat our delicious breakfast of chocolate chip/blueberry muffins (still grumpy about not getting our chocolate chip muffins) and oranges/apples. We soon arrived at Kansas University for a quick bathroom break shopping excursion in the book store, and research presentations: the Oil Wells if Kansas (Sadie Burchfield), The State of Kansas (Stanley (Lincoln by birth certificate)), Kansas State University (Lawson Houser), and Kansas University (Katelin Vaher)

We made our way to the bus to head to our favorite place…WALMART (we should be sponsored at this point). After waiting for Sean to get gas in the bus, and the cooks to organize the food, we loaded up and had a delicious lunch of chicken Caesar wraps, chip, carrots, and fruit smiles. (we were missing the croutons...Meg)

We then headed to the Gateway Arch in Saint Louis while enjoying the movie Puss and Boots: The Last Wish on the bus. When we arrived at the arche we split up into groups of 5 to take the capsules up the arch (we found out that grumpys and claustrophobia don’t mix well…). At the top we enjoyed the beautiful views of Saint Louis. After coming down from the capsules everyone enjoyed the gift shop. Before getting back on the bus to head to the campsite we listened to our friends Carter, Abby about St. Louis and The Arch in front of the arch as the perfect background. We then took a group picture, as usual, and held hands as we skipped/walked around the arch all together. On the way back to the bus many of us wished we could extend our stay for the night as we discovered Morgan Wallen was no longer on vocal rest and was performing later tonight at the Cardinal stadium.

We arrived at the campsite and set up our tents ahead of the down pours that are expected tonight. We then enjoyed walking tacos and brownies for dinner. We had our last big sing along of the trip (which made us even more grumpy… we don’t want to leave).

Finally, we hunkered down for the night in our cozy tents dreaming of what’s to come tomorrow.
