Day 17- Cody, Wyoming

Day 17 - Cody, Wyoming

Good morning from the Happiest group (AKA the Happy's which includes Caroline Moseley, Lahna, Banks, Carter, Makenna, Drew, Cade, Regan, Jax, Wesley, Katelin, Mary, Connor, and Laityn) We woke up on the beautiful country side of Wyoming at 7:30 am to prepare for an exciting morning of white water rafting. Our wonderful counselors had prepared a delicious breakfast of cereal and milk.

After a hearty breakfast, we loaded onto two buses at 8:30 am to head to Wyoming River Trips. Once we arrived, we were greeted by a young river guide, Sarah, who gave us a rigorous explanation of the importance of life jackets. Then, we quickly suited up and headed towards the Shoshone River. On the way, we got pumped to raft with some music and some of the guides. Upon arrival, we split into groups ranging from 5 to 11 crew members and were assigned to our guides. After loading up into various rafts, we set off down the river. As we all got to know our raft guides, we got to also experience the cold rapids and beautiful scenery. With sore arms and lots of jokes, we were able to push through the 5 mile trip.

After heading back to our campsite, we were able to get a much needed shower and rest. We FINALLY got to clean our nasty clothes one last time while also getting to call home. We were also able to head next door to the Dairy Queen for a fun afternoon snack!

Our BIRTHDAY BOY CHARLIE!!!

During our free time, we had a minor inconvenience. THE RAIN STARTED! While covering our things, we got to indulge in some delicious chicken quesadillas, courtesy of the Sleepy's amazing cooking. We then set out for some downtown Cody shopping, where we cleared out the cowboy hat sections in every shop (some of us spent more on the higher side.....sorry Tucker's parents). Now, we are prepared for Stampede Night in the rodeo capitol of the world, Cody, Wyoming.

Arriving at the rodeo, some of us were reminded of home. After finding our seats at the rodeo, some of the participants invested in some rodeo merchandise and delicious snacks, including lots of cotton candy and popcorn. As 8 p.m. struck, we were all on the edge of our seats as the rodeo began. With the 4th of July being tomorrow, we enjoyed a heartfelt representation of our various Military branches. We thanked them for their bravery and service as they risk their lives for us and our freedom. The kickoff of the first event began, bareback bronc riding. Our excitement continued as steer wrestling, team roping, tie down roping, barrel racing, and bull riding also took place. Our enthusiasm caused us to be identified by our favorite rodeo clown, Jim. While we were sad for it to be over, we were glad we got to experience the amazing night.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHARLIE

Surprise seeing Christian's sister here!

Back at our rainy campsite, we all piled inside of the Bear Den and Laundry room, to prevent us from waking up soaked (THANK YOU COUNSELORS!)  As we were all cozy and warm, we fell asleep with sleeping bags covering the floor. Thank you for the shelter, Ponderosa! See you in 5 short days, fam!
