Day 1: LaGrange, GA
Hello everyone! Bashfuls here but we are definitely not Bashful: Will Carter, Riley Rouse, Kage Hefner, Loggan Beatty, Langdon Taylor, Bryce Admire, Lincoln "Stanley" Davis, Madi "MVP" Pettit, Emma Smith, Faye Shellhorn, Abby Shippee, Carrie Medford, Mallory Lawing, Ava Hammock, led by your amazing not so Bashful counselor Alicia Hutchins.
We all began our days by saying our "goodbyes" to our families before we loaded up in the bus and van. Some of us loaded on to our vans, good ole MISS AMERICA and CAROLINA GIRL, and quickly began getting to know one another. We played many games together like "Uno" and "New Phone, Who Dis?" while also having a few music jam sessions. For lunch we had sandwiches, of the ham and turkey variety, with different kinds of chips and cookies (all great value of course)! So yummy in my tummy!
We quickly started speed dating (ooooooh) on the bus and afterwards were able to play many different card games, listen to music, and some even took a nap. We stopped at our first Flying J and the South Carolina State rest stop.
First time and last time on a good smelling bus |
An intense game of banana-split |
First time smelling the fresh "Sweet" Alabama air! Nice and moist :) |
When we got to the campsite we all reset our watches more specifically out batman watches, because we left the Eastern Time Zone and entered into the Central Standard Time Zone. Many people played games like lacrosse, volleyball, and ultimate frisbee, while others got to know their groups. The Happy group prepared our amazing dinner of burgers with watermelon, chips, and cookies in the pouring rain. The rain didn't ruin the burgers though, which was a pleasant surprise. After dinner we drove over to our campsite for the night which was on an Archery range. (No, nobody didn't get hurt, no worries!) We didn't have enough time to hold our relay races but no worries they will be done at a later date, so we had our first SING-A-LONG. We sang Our favorite "This Land is Your Land", "Sweet Home Alabama", "Wagon Wheel", and TWB's signature song "Today".
Now it's time for showers and a few hours of sleep, before we head down south for some good ole' beignets!
