Day 10- Hollywood and UCLA

Day 10: Hollywood and UCLA

This morning we got the privilege to sleep in until 7am at our second night in Anaheim, but it was quite chilly which surprised many of us considering we are in Southern California. After packing everything up we had some van difficulties so we made the best of the situation, by first gathering in a circle to play a game which quickly turned into a line dance party. Before our dance party we enjoyed some delicious BRAND NAME pop-tarts. Once our amazing director who we are now calling fix-it Grant fixed the trailer wheel, we hopped on the bus to make our way to the Hollywood Sign and the Griffith Observatory.

Lots of pictures were taken especially since it was the first view of the Hollywood Sign! We then listened to research for: the Movie/ TV Studios in Hollywood (Drew Crotts) & The Pacific Ocean (Amelia Matzke).
If you look to the right you can see the Hollywood Sign

Lawson is correct we are on a road trip!

Once we finished our time at the observatory we headed to the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame, the El Capitan Theater, and the Dolby Theater. As you may know we have a famous "celebrity" being Alicia Hutchins, who stared in the "Outer Banks" an the NEW AND UPCOMING "Barbie Movie". This was by far the funniest thing we have seen. More than 100 random tourist gathered around to receive pictures and autographs with the famous Alicia Hutchins.

After our famous celebrity spotting we split into groups to explore Hollywood; some chose to shop, while others decided to enjoy some McDonalds and Subway.

Once we had enough of the glitz and glam of Hollywood we all headed to UCLA where we heard research for: Beverly Hills, CA (Jess Fedo), Hollywood (Kage Hefner), The Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood (Caroline Rhodes), and UCLA (Riley Rouse). Of course once we finished research we were able to explore the campus, half of the group spent their time in the Athletic Hall of Fame where they got to see lots of famous athletes that have come out of UCLA. The other half chose to spend their time and MONEY (some of us too much) in the UCLA bookstore.

On the way to Lake Cachuma we passed beautiful scenery with mountains on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other. We pulled in and where we were delighted with a beautiful view of the lake at our campsite. Sadly, we are not able to swim due to it being a water reservoir, we are actually okay with this because it is SOOO cold it it 60 degrees outside tonight with a wind chill. While everyone was setting up for the night the cooks started preparing our gourmet dinner. Hot Dogs with chips, beans WHICH WERE THE BEST BEANS ON THIS PLANET (Kage is no longer allowed to cook beans on the trip, how do you burn beans?!) and Little Debbies! We were surprised about how much these reminded us of home.

Plank competition to see who was going to eat the best beans first.

After our yummy dinner, we could chose to shower or chill for a little bit before out sing-a-long. Once we finished singing Wagon Wheel at the top of our lungs we snuggled into our sleeping bags and prepared for the amazing day ahead. We are looking forward to a seanic drive up Highway 1 up the California Coast to Monterey, California for the famous Cannery Row and then finish off the night with arriving to San Francisco.

We were all so scared!
